'Nearly' Perfect Weekend

This was a very special weekend for us. Auntie Aimee flew in (on her Birthday weekend) from St. Joseph, Michigan and Auntie Kristin drove from Detroit. It was 'nearly' perfect because Auntie Aimee's flight was the flight from H*LL and delayed NINE hours. Being the dedicated and loving Auntie that she is, she hung in there and waited out the delays so she could finally meet Henry.

Auntie Aimee woke up at 6am waiting to meet Henry...however, he decided to sleep in and didn't make his appearance until 9am! Henry needs to learn to never keep a pretty girl waiting.

Auntie Kristin and Henry. Kristin had just finished a 14 hour drive from Vermont and jumped in the car Saturday morning for another 5 hour drive to meet Henry.

Aimee, Tara and Kristin ready for a night on the town! We enjoyed a lovely dinner at "Relish", a Tapas bar on the Danforth.

After the Auntie's departed we enjoyed the afternoon together at the Dog Park. Henry fell asleep in the Bjorn...quite the life.

Coo's and Smiles!

Chicago - Part II

As promised, here are a few videos from the LFR in Chicago.

Doesn't get much better than a gathering of Filippinos participating in organized dancing!

Henry's first experience in a swimming pool! He's definitely a water baby. Henry also enjoyed floating in his little 'boat'.

Chicago

This past weekend we traveled to Chicago for the Luzod Family Reunion. Over 70 family members converged in Chicago for Filippino food, dancing and sharing stories. We flew out of Toronto's City Centre airport, which is on an island in Lake Ontario. Henry took his first ferry ride (to the terminal), his third flight, and got another stamp in his passport.

Jake and Henry playing quietly while Tara packs for our trip...

We sat poolside the first afternoon in Chicago and Henry spent time with with Papa Andrew on his birthday weekend.

Great Gram had fun entertaining Henry at breakfast. She noted how big he is getting and that she needs to knit yet another blanket for him, bigger of course!

Nate and Mae made a surprise appearance for Dad's birthday!

A Walk in the Park...

Today we had a special visitor and a fun outing at Woodbine Park. Our friend and Doula, Tasha, came over and brought her Nephew, Emery, to meet Henry. We went to the Splash Pad at the park and Emery had a ball. Henry had fun sleeping. Jake was not forgotten as Tasha and Emery brought him a new toy ball to play with.

Mark and I celebrated our official anniversary with Taco's, Pinot Noir and M&M's. Doesn't get much better than this...Happy 2nd Anniversary!

Henry is 2 Months Old!

Henry turned two months old this weekend and is nearly 10 lbs.

We celebrated not only his 2 mo birthday, but also Canada Day, Independence Day and our 2 year anniversary this weekend. The weather was spectacular this weekend and we took full advantage going for walks, bike rides, golfing, sittin' on the porch snoozing and reading....

Nana Myra visited to babysit Henry so we could enjoy a quiet dinner and the Cirque de Soleil show.

We enjoyed a picnic at the beach on Sunday. It was too hot for Jake, he needed to lay in the Lake to cool off!

Next Stop...A-Town Down!

Hot-lanta didn't disappoint with temps in the 90's and 100% humidity. Mark was in heaven and Tara and Henry were in the A/C! Henry met the Whirlpool Team for lunch at the Rankin's on Friday.

On Saturday Grandma and Grandpa Kaasa hosted a wonderful lunch for everyone to meet Henry. We had Southern BBQ...complete with pulled pork, extra cheesey mac n cheese, cole slaw and cheese biscuits. The perfect menu for a post partum diet! (BBQ does not mean "grilling out", for the Northerners following.)

Dan, Alyssa and Charlie Kopp, just 3 months older than Henry, stopped in for a visit and the boys played for a bit.
Uncle Ben arrived just in time to meet Henry (before his meltdown) and to watch the USA World Cup match.

The Taylor's arrived and Henry was on overload from his hectic travel schedule, note the scowl on his face, and it took the expertise of Aunt Kathy and the sling-a-ling to settle him to sleep.

Caitlin modeled her ballet tutu and cast accessory for us, so cute! Girlie girl meets tom boy. Grandpa K wanted a turn being held so he jumped on Owen's lap for some cuddling!

Special Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Kaasa for watching Henry while Mark and Tara enjoyed a night out on the town with Ben. We satisfied our craving for Taqueria del Sol and went to see Yacht Rock at Center Stage.

We flew back to Michigan on Sunday and were upgraded to Business Elite seats. Henry is earning miles and flying high in his own little first class pod!

Henry Goes to America!

We began Henry's first international trip by crossing the Ambassador Bridge from Windsor, ON to Detroit, MI on Father's Day. We visited with Papa Andrew and about 20 members of the Luzod family on this special day. As it was Mark's 1st Father's Day we spent the morning at home and shared a few smiles and laughs before hitting the road.

In Michigan Henry met several new friends including Brittany, Auntie Diane & her super cute kids, Mel, Ty and Emilie.

On our last night in Detroit friends Carolyn and Kyoko made an amazing dinner and visited with Henry. Ana dropped in to meet Henry and as you can see had the magic touch to send him off to sleep!

Later in the week Henry and Tara flew to Atlanta to catch up with Mark and visit the Kaasa's. Here he is 'posing' in front of the fountain at DTW, the same place George Clooney stood in the recent film "Up in the Air." Henry was perfect on the flight, slept the entire way. We were greeted at the airport by Grandma and Grandpa Kaasa and Mark. Jake stayed behind and spent the weekend with Nana Myra and Baxter.
